Charles A. Tievsky practices immigration law with a passion for achieving his client’s objectives, and with a clear understanding of the importance to his clients of every immigration, no matter how simple or complex. His clients include well-known multinational corporations, entrepreneurs, software and technology companies, retail businesses, and individuals, providing representation in regard to the full range of employment and family-based matters . He has practiced federal administrative law for twenty five years as a private practitioner and corporate attorney, and has advised clients around the world with regard to high stakes and highly complex immigration and other regulatory issues. Mr. Tievsky has been widely quoted in the media on immigration law policy issues, including the Washington Post and other newspapers, and often lobbies and testifies on immigration and border issues before national and local elected officials. He believes strongly in public service, and was the 2005 recipient of the Fairfax Bar Association’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award. He also received the 2006 Chairman’s Award from the Herndon-Dulles Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Tievsky is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is Chairman of the Washington District Office Liaison Committee for the District of Columbia Chapter. He earned his J.D. and B.A. degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in the District of Columbia. He and his family live in Oakton, Virginia.
Charles A. Tievsky has a long track record of success in securing clients' rights from government agencies in difficult cases. Specializing in regulatory and administrative law since 1984, Mr. Tievsky has fought vigorously on behalf of his clients seeking to secure mission-critical licenses and authorizations from governments worldwide, prerequisites to billions of dollars in investment. Many of these license grants were secured over the objection of dominant vested interests, both government and private, that sought to hinder or block the relief sought and to undermine the continued enjoyment of hard fought rights already achieved. To the firm's clients, the key benefit of this depth of experience is our ability to quickly determine the heart of an immigration issue, develop a range of possible solutions, weigh the pros and cons of each alternative, propose sound and workable solutions, assist the client in reaching a conclusion, and then implement the decision. Mr. Tievsky's clients over the years have placed great faith and confidence in his legal skills and ability to successful navigate immigration and other complex regulatory environments. The stakes are high for companies and individuals affected by US immigration laws and regulations, and clients deserve counsel who not only understands the law and its practical application, but who can as well bring to bear a breadth of experience in securing administrative relief where success is central to achieving business objectives.
We strive to provide practical, creative, and sustainable solutions for our clients through vigorous and effective representation. Securing immigration relief requires the ability to vigorously and effectively advocate cases within the often narrow confines of the administrative process. Central to effective representations is the ability to produce convincing written pleadings and to produce written petitions that present cases in their best possible light. Over the years we have prepared and filed thousands of petitions, pleadings, and regulatory filings on behalf of clients in administrative law proceedings worldwide. We also have engaged extensively in oral advocacy before administrative agencies, policy makers and legislators on behalf our clients or a range of legal and commercial issues. Some lawyers have focused their careers on courthouse practices or commercial transactions – we focus on representing clients before regulatory agencies and understanding how they work and how to develop an appropriate response that achieves results when they don't.
The Law Office of Charles A. Tievsky PLC strives to maintain the highest levels of professionalism in its practice of law and relationships with clients. We value our hard won reputation and expend considerable time, effort and expense to maintain a high degree of legal skill and competence and to remain current with the constantly evolving landscape of immigration law. We place paramount importance on ethical practices and ensuring that our clients interests are zealously protected. We would rather turn a case down than take one on we do not believe would be in the best interests of the prospective client.
Consumers of legal services deserve timeliness, responsiveness, competence and value from their attorneys. We have seen the practice of law from both sides of the fence – not only as a provider of legal services, but as a consumer as well. While practicing as an in-house corporate lawyer with major multinational corporations, Chuck Tievsky worked closely with many of the world's pre-eminent law firms on behalf of his client companies. He developed a deep understanding of the importance of fast call turn around, timely production of documents, regular status conferences and follow ups. He knows the fundamental importance of fair and reasonable attorneys fees that reflect value provided, timely and accurate client bills, and the necessity that any billing related questions or issues be resolved quickly and amicably. In holding out our services to business and individuals, we always keep in mind the lessons learned as a client and consumer -- deliver on promises and commitments, tell it like it is, earn our fees, create real and lasting value, and recognize that by taking on a clients' case, their problems and objectives become our own.
